The Day has arrived.

I just arrived home from work and thought I’d continue the conversation I was having with my uber driver here with you guys on WordPress..
Today, the Queen of Soul, Ms. Aretha Franklin, has passed away.
To not acknowledge the tragedy of her death would not sit right with me. I remember when I first heard Respect, I was around 10-11. Respect was the first song I ever performed in front of an audience. It was the first song that introduced me to the gift of music. It was the first song I ever felt something through music. Her voice was a true inspiration and a gift from another world.

I thank Ms. Franklin for my love of music today.

We mourn her death as many of us as paid tribute across all social media platforms. Many singers and musicians alike such as Jojo, Nicki Minaj, Keke Wyatt, Jessie J, and other important figures such as Michelle Obama to name a few have all expressed their sorrow on Instagram. And I feel their words. As the article states, it truly is an end of an era. Ms. Franklin was the Queen of Soul. She paved the way for many artists we knew/ know now, Rihanna, Ariana Grande, Demi Lovato, etc. No one can ever compare and I don’t think anyone ever will. I would love to hear ya’ll thoughts, comment below.

This is for Ms. Franklin, and the legacy she left behind. May she #RestInPower.
