Ya’ll know I had been talking (and so has everyone else) about Mariah Carey’s Memoir for a while now. It’s truly a gift, heaven sentthat it’s come out the time I need it the most. Honest to God it’s almost surreal. Couldn’t have come out a better time. Found so much comfort and reliability in Carey’s writing (in a time of doubt and uncertainty) as a growing budding artist myself. Already half way done, can’t wait to share with ya’ll all the gems I learned about.
Anyhow, must I say, dahling.. so glad to get my hands on this. cop the drop, neeoow!
So glad that Ari and Durand are both getting the recognition they deserve. They’ve been in the scene for a minute and I am glad that they are now getting the limelight. hard work truly pays off when it comes to something you’re so passionate about. Can’t believe it’s been months since my first actual performance to Ari Lennox Whipped Cream. would do it all over again, but much better haha. Durand is also such an amazing vocalist. been following him for years and so upset that he is now getting recognition. He dropped his EP a few days ago which I’ll be sharing soon. But first, FACETIME.
So this rap piece was inspired by much of the struggles I’ve experienced as a growing and aspiring artist. And as always, talk my talk the way I usually do in my ‘rap’ pieces haha but in this piece, I brush the surface of my early life and how I’ve become who I am today. Only gonna get better. Hope it resonates with you in some way or the other.

Who else loves stumbling across great music? I know I do!
In the midst of editing my first youtube video (which you guys should check out! & pls cut me some slack I was kinda nervous if you couldn’t tell LOL), I came across just the right song I needed for an reference in my video. If ya’ll been following me for a while, you would know how much I love old-school classic soul music, which is what I found. I couldn’t wait to present it in my Saturday Shazam Series (where I collect all the greatest songs I’ve found & share em all with you here) so I thought I’d make a separate one here.
Okay, enough of my rambling it is Thee Dramatics “Whatcha See is Whatcha Get”. Never heard it in my life but so glad I came across them! Feel free to groove to it and check it out here.
I am trying my very best to create in spite of this inexplainable slumber I am feeling during these times. It’s such an odd time, isn’t it? At least that’s how I feel, but as an artist, I also know this time is a gift for all creatives as this provides us an God given opportunity to spend more time into our artistry and craft. and no doubt I feel blessed & quite rejuvenated! This couldn’t have came along a better time in my life..
Anyhow, I just posted new content on my instagram which I encourage ya’ll to check out which you can find here. I know I’ll be creating much much more! If ya’ll have any song requests, I would love to hear them! I have a whole list of songs I would like to cover but haven’t found quite the right inspiration and space to do it (which truly makes me sad). As I have already begun my songwriting process and have found so much joy in the creative process of my EP, alongside other musical pieces I have been working on here & there. Anyhow, hope ya’ll enjoy & thank’s for sticking with me!
There is a new app on the rise! And this app, known as Voisey, is specifically designed for upcoming music artists and songwriters alike. So of course, ya girl had to hop on it! I just made an account, so there is still much more content to make and is currently in the works 🙂 As you may know about me, I love poetry and I’ve posted most of my pieces here on thehighsandlows.com if ya’ll wanna check it out. You also know how much I love music, so why not combine both? If you have a chance, please follow me on it! They’re all original lyrics besides the beat. Follow me on my account @lorrainebau, have a lot of ideas stirrin’ & I can’t wait to share them with ya’ll!
Thank you so much ya’ll thus for all you’re support!
Wow, this year has been a great start for me thus far. Beyond my wildest dreams, I’ve had the chance to perform twice at a local bar in Los Angeles in the past month that has only encourage and inspired my love and creativity for music. The People’s Party hosts shows in the area to showcase local talents and artists, bringing the community together for a great time and great music. If you were to tell me a year ago, this was gonna happen I wouldn’t have believed you. I feel so blessed to have been invited to both events and to simply have the opportunity to share my love for music with others. It has only fueled me to become the best version of myself that I can be as artist/ performer/ singer as I know there is much more to me to share.. It’s a dream I had since I was a little girl, and now I feel empowered to train and get my voice back. (A story I hope to share when I am ready).
Anyhow, super stoked for the music I am currently writing and creating.. God is good.
