Billie Holiday born April 7, 1915 – July 17, 1959 was birthed by the name Eleanora Fagan. Holiday was an American jazz singer with a career spanning nearly thirty years. Nicknamed “Lady Day” by her friend and music partner Lester Young. Holiday had a seminal influence on jazz music and pop singing.
To me and many others, Holiday was one of the many ladies who were the face to female jazz singers. Her beauty and voice moved many aspiring singers, leaving her mark in jazz history.
